The Semogue 830 is a wonderful top of the range boar brush. Once broken in (about 20-25 lathers) the tips begin to soften and it will create lather from soaps, croaps and creams with the outmost ease.

This brush I was expecting to have at least a month of break in before the brush became as soft as my silver tip badger brush, a pleasant surprise as this brush only took 3 days to break in and is as soft as my badger but with a little more backbone. This brush is a lather making machine and requires little effort to produce a full bodied lather that is luxurious and thick. I feel that it is not quite as good as my badger but is a pleasure to use daily. The quality of the brush is excellent and first class and what one does expect from this brush manufacturer. I can very highly recommend this brush to anyone thinking of purchasing it and will definitely will purchase another from this manufacturer.
It's a Semogue boar, so it takes a while to break in before you can use it (though not as long as some other Semogue brushes, such as the SOC). However, once it breaks in, it is a wonderful brush. No "wet pig" odour, lathers easily, it's small so you can precisely put the lather on your face, and it cleans easily (also due to its size). For $30, it's a steal. Just do one practice lather each day until it breaks in ~3 weeks).
This is my first boar brush and i must say there wasn't a hint of odour. It has great back bone (needed for hard soaps) and performs magnificently, it whips up a lather in no time, feels great on the face also. A beautiful looking brush, a must in your shaving rotation.
