As for the other Oaken reviews I've posted, this is a great shaving soap.

Batavia Barber is a stronger fragrance than Far Afield and Sanctum. It is somehow reminiscent of visits to the barber shop as a child; the smell of after-shave, worn leather barber chairs, the barber using a leather strop to fine the blade of his cut-throat razor....

I really like the memories this brings back to me. It is a stronger scented product than the others but not for everyday, for me. Nevertheless it is certainly one that I use because I feel like an indulgence and a short stroll down memory lane !

Batavia Review

I have had a couple of shaves with Oaken v3 Batavia. To this point I have to say that I am a little underwhelmed by it”s performance to this point.
Having read a number of positive reviews about this soap and I was looking forward to adding it to my rotation.
Here are my thoughts.
Pros
Great scent, not too strong but more subtle than many other soaps but in a positive way.
The product is well presented.
Cons
Produces a slightly powdery lather that lacks the slickness of some other major brands.

Unfortunately this one has not worked for me.
I have not given up on Batavia and I am sure it may be just the thing for other.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Paul.

As always, it's much appreciated and helps others in making an informed decision.

Personally, I found the the new V3 formulation requires a tad more loading and a substantial amount of water than other artisan shave soaps. There's no doubt about it, this is a 'thirsty' soap, and it took some tweaking to achieve what I'm accustomed to. Your photograph is quite impressive... thanks for taking the time to upload it.
